About the Candidate

On Christmas Day, 2014, I stepped off a plane at Ted Stevens International Airport, my first time in Alaska and my first time experiencing a “White Christmas.” I stayed in downtown Anchorage, walking to my first job after graduating from the University of Georgia, in cold weather I had never experienced before. I fell in love immediately.

Although I was not born and raised in Alaska, I made it my destiny to live here. My first stint lasted that Winter, before I returned permanently in August of 2019. I toured the entire state that Summer, settling back again in Fairview. I purchased my first home shortly after in Wasilla, living in the Matsu Valley for 3 years. I spent that time hiking the miles of trails at Hatcher Pass, fishing Finger Lake & riding the ATV trails. After taking a position that required significantly more travel throughout the State, I cut my commute and moved to South Addition.

I am a field working professional, having been in the insurance industry for over a decade in various capacities. Not only has this provided significant insight into the needs of residents and business owners, but it has allowed me to visit almost every corner of the State, learning economic trends, construction logistics and cost, and expanded my cultural understanding of the different parts of the State. Of course, this garnered my interest in our local, State and Federal leadership.

Two years ago, I threw my hat in the ring for the United States House seat, on three main points of contention: 1. Outlawing Bottom Trawling, 2. Ending Corporate Homeownership, and 3. Preserving Social Security and the promised security blanket many Americans pay and work for. I still believe in these three issues as my top priorities, now, turning my attention to providing representation in the State legislature.

I live within walking distance of downtown, and I frequently take advantage of that. Being a regular at many locally owned establishments, I have noticed how our economic state has led to decline in general business and development. I think it is a travesty that Fairview residents are without a grocery store, creating a food desert in a concentrated popular neighborhood. I’ve witnessed harassment, vandalism and blatant vagrancy from criminals in our neighborhoods, and I have been a victim of a vehicle break ins. With continuing outmigration, the main priorities of our government are misaligned with the actual problems our city and state face: the exorbitant cost of living.

Alaska’s wages have grown at the worst rate over the last fifty years than any other location in the Union. With a deteriorating labor market, low competition amongst businesses, and an ever-shrinking PFD, our economic outlook looks poor. The greatest threat to the future of this State is the cost of living and lack of increased wages. I am a firm believer that the State must take corrective measures to diversify the economy, raise revenues from our shared natural resources, encourage competition in the market, and provide a safe, clean environment for all of us.

I encourage you to review the specific details of the issues I am advocating for, found on the pages of this website. I appreciate your feedback, differences, and ultimately, your support. I believe that together, we can refocus the legislature on the most pressing issues facing Alaskan residents!
